Why We Can't Add Meetings Directly

The AA Directory aggregates meeting data from official AA intergroup and central office websites. To maintain data integrity and avoid duplicate listings, all new meetings must be registered with your local intergroup first. This ensures official AA organizations maintain control of their meeting information.

Find Your Local AA Intergroup or Central Office

Every region has an AA intergroup or central office that maintains the official list of meetings in your area. You can find yours by:

Register Your Meeting with the Intergroup

Contact your local intergroup to register your new meeting. They'll guide you through their process and add your meeting to their official directory. Most intergroups have a simple form or phone process for this.

Notify Us After Registration

Once your meeting is registered with the intergroup, let us know so we can include it in our next data sync. Use our contact form and include:

  • The meeting name and location
  • The intergroup or central office that registered it
  • A link to the intergroup's website if available

We'll Add It to Our Directory

After receiving your notification, we'll sync with the intergroup's data and add your meeting to The AA Directory during our next update cycle.

What if my area doesn't have an intergroup?

Most areas are covered by a regional intergroup or central office, even if it's not in your immediate city. Check your state's page for a list of all intergroups, or contact AA's General Service Office for guidance. You can also reach out to us via the contact form and we'll try to help you find the right resource.

How long does it take for new meetings to appear?

Once your meeting is registered with the intergroup and you notify us, we'll add it during our next data sync. The timing varies depending on our update cycle and when the intergroup publishes their updated meeting list.

Can I submit an online or virtual meeting?

Yes! The same process applies to online meetings. Many intergroups now list virtual meetings alongside in-person ones. Contact your local intergroup or check with Online Intergroup of AA for online-specific meetings.

Why can't you just add my meeting directly?

We source our data from official AA intergroup websites to ensure accuracy and prevent duplicates. If we accepted direct submissions, we'd risk having conflicting information with the official intergroup records. By working through the intergroups, we maintain a single source of truth.
